Missy's Miracles
Missy's Miracles has been started due to the tragic / senseless loss of
Pa's Mismakamess a two year old white and brindle female that lost her life on August 31st, 2007 due to a broken hock. Missy's Miracles is here to bring in broken hock greyhounds from the Tucson track instead of allowing them to be euthanized. As each broken hock greyhound comes in it is through the donation and sponsorship of greyhound lovers that they will get full medical care and be placed into a foster home where they can recover from their injuries. Once they are fully recovered they will be spayed or neutered and then can be placed up for adoption.
In order to bring in these greyhounds we need help from our greyhound community. You can sponsor a certain broken hock greyhound and we will put all the names of those that are sponsoring them. Or you can just give a donation to Missy's Miracles that will go into a fund to help these greyhounds. *Please note on donation that it is for a Missy's Miracles grey and who you want your donation to go to.*
When we receive a greyhound in with a broken hock it will take at least 5 weeks of recovery. Depending on when it is brought in the time could be shorter. Normal cost for care of a broken hock greyhound during foster care can be from $500 to $3,000 depending on the severity of the brake and if surgery is required. This pays for their medical and foster care while recoving from their career ending injury.
If you are a rescue group that is interested in bringing in of these special greyhounds into your group please contact us at greys@greyhounds2go.org.
G2G notes and highly recommends that Missy's Miracles greyhounds should not be let off leash do to the fact that they had a bad injury and can easily re-break which could be detrimental to their recovery. This means no dog parks. They are fine to run at home in backyards.
